With so many people deeply in debt, it is no surprise how many scams are out there on the Internet. The latest one is that of credit card debt termination. I'm sure you seen advertisements by now offering to terminate your credit card debt today. The worst thing about this is that the people who can't spend a lot because they are so far in debt are the ones paying almost $3000 into this fraudulent program. This is not like debt consolidation or debt settlement which are both perfectly legal ways to get rid of your credit card debt. No the credit card termination scam claims that you don't owe any money and you don't have to repay anything. The thing is that there are plenty of ways to get rid of your debt that won't cost you $3500 or more.

Ways To Terminate Credit Card Debt

One of the best ways your credit card debt is to just pay it. Of course many people would not be the situation they are in if they could do that. But if you considered the other options, getting a second job or even selling the stuff you don't need is a much better choice. You should do anything you can to make the extra cash to pay your credit card debt. When you have the means to pay off your debt you need to formulate a plan and stick to it. This plan should involve calling your creditors to see if you work out a deal. Many will be happy to pause or stop altogether your interest. Some will even be willing to work out a settlement by reducing your principal on the debt accounts. This can be as much as 50 percent or more of the total amount owed. This will of course work out to much smaller and more manageable payments. They would much rather do this than lose the entire amount in a bankruptcy settlement.

The other option you have if you want to legally terminate credit card debt  is to hire a debt consolidation company. With a credit card debt consolidation company you pay back all your debts in full to the creditors owed. They will also work with you and get you a lower monthly payment that you will be able to make each month. They of course will not do this for free - you will have to pay them a fee based on what they do for you. It may be anywhere from thousand dollars to more than $3500.But it  will probably work out to less than what you have to pay to the creditors themselves though. Do be aware that debt consolidation will lower your credit score similarly to bankruptcy. Not quite as bad though.

Bankruptcy is always a last choice for those deep in debt. The best thing about bankruptcy to be that it halts any legal action being taken against you. A bankruptcy proceeding can even be drawn out for several years so your credit score won't be affected until it actually goes through. And while it is in the process, the creditors still won't be able to touch you. You can even stop repossession and foreclosures with bankruptcy. The bad side is of course that you will have no credit and will not really get any loans for 10 years or more if you are lucky. And even worse is that a bankruptcy claim on your credit report can stop you from getting a job and possibly sensitive positions. Also bankruptcy will prevent you from becoming bonded.

Just understand that there really is no comparison between the scam of credit card termination and other legal forms of debt removal such as debt consolidation or settlement. If any company promises you that you will not have to repay anything to your creditors, just walk away and never deal with them again. There's no sense in falling for a scam when there are so many legitimate ways of dealing with and terminating credit card debt.
